In a world separated by the barriers of language, the visual arts are often used to communicate beyond the capability of mere words. Color, texture, compositional flow and body language can be portrayed to speak of energy, emotion and the sublime. Through this type of emotional narrative painting, Anya Rubin explores questions of life, often through the lens of a female figure. It is through her works that she develops a better understanding of herself and the world around her. These spiritually charged paintings use symbols and a visual language of communication to tell a story understood without words. Rubin's series of forward females is inspired by strong women in challenging times. Her mask series explores the masks that we all wear to ourselves and to the world we face as a representation of the the visual we want the world to see of us.

Emotionally charged and heavily influenced by color, Rubin achieves an energy of life that is a thought provoking search for balance between conscious and sublime universal messages. Anya Rubin studied at the Art Student League of New York but is largely self-taught.
